Pauley Perrette is a popular American actress, writer and singer who got the fame for his role on the CBS crime thriller TV series NCIS, AS Abby Sciuto from 2003 to 2018. Her additional credits include roles in such shows as The Drew Carey Show (1995), Murder One (1995), Jesse (1998), Time of Your Life (1999), Almost Famous (2000), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000), Philly (2001), 24 (2001), Special Unit 2 (2001), The Ring (2002), Haunted (2002) and many hit films commercials, and music videos. 

She wrote the famous ‘ Donna Bell’s Bake Shop: Recipes and Stories of Family’, which depicts her venture alongside two best friends on discovering their Southern-style Bake Shop in Manhattan. In 2011, during an interview with the Associated Press, Pauley talked about her early ambitions to work with animals, be an FBI agent or be in a rock and roll band. 

Early Life

Pauley Perrette was born on 27th March 1969, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She spent much of her childhood in Alabama, and Georgia and shuttled between several locations all over the South, due to her father’s job transfers. Pauley enrolled at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia to study Criminal Justice. Pauley also did some job in New York, “Not only was I bartending in the Club Kids scene, with a bra and combat boots and a white Mohawk, but I also wore a sandwich board on roller skates passing out flyers for Taco Bell in the Diamond District.” she also worked as a cook on a dinner cruise boat, Manhattan. 

Career 

Pauley Perrette has appeared in many popular films and series, mostly doing commercials, voice-overs, short films and music videos. She served as a bartender in New York. While doing some jobs to live a good life in New York, she met an advertising company director through her friend. Later, she moved to Los Angeles, where she made some guest appearances. She played the role of a waitress at Cafe Nervosa in the sitcom Frasier during 4th season and she guest starred in season 1 of 24. Even she played a role in some films, including Almost Famous and The Ring. 

In 2001, she played Alice Cramer in season 2 of ‘Special Unit 2’.  She played her most popular role as Abby Sciuto, the brilliant but offbeat forensic scientist on CBS’s NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service (2003). As a character, her initial appearances were in 2 episodes of JAG aired in 2003.

She has since played a role in two episodes as Abby in 2009 of NCIS: Los Angeles, as well as in two episodes of NCIS: New Orleans in 2014 and 2016.  Pauley left NCIS after her final appearance in the episode “Two Steps Back”, due to an on-set dog-biting incident and alleged multiple physical assaults. She was “terrified” of her former co-star Mark Harmon.

Pauley recorded her song “Fear” under the name “Stop Making Friends” which was co-written with Tom Polce. The song was recorded for NCIS: The Official TV Soundtrack which was released on 10th February 2009. “Fear” was featured in the NCIS season 6 episode 25, “Aliyah”, according to the soundtrack’s website.

Singing Career

Before this, Pauley was the lead singer in the Los Angeles-based all-female band Lo-Ball, her stage name was “Pauley P.” In the Film Legally Blonde, the song “Can’t Get Me Down” by Lo-Ball is there. Pauley starred in “The Unnamed Feeling” video from their album St. Anger of heavy metal band Metallica. In 2011, Pauley was the featured vocalist on a song called “Fire in Your Eyes” by a Las Vegas-based hip-hop artist, B. Taylor. By DMC, she also sang on the 2011 single “Attention Please”.

As a author and poet

In addition to acting, Pauley is an author and poet (her short story “Cheers..” appears in the anthology Pills, Thrills, Chills, and Heartache: Adventures in the First Person). In 2007, she started production on a documentary about author Mark Lane and a U.S. civil rights attorney. Entitled Citizen Lane, it finished in 2013.

In 2005, during an interview with the host of The Late Late Show, Craig Ferguson, Pauley said she has had a lifelong crime obsession. She was an undergrad student in psychology, sociology and criminal science. 

In the January/February 2010 Performer Q Score, Pauley tied in the top three alongside Morgan Freeman and Tom Hanks. She was also the only woman who became the top 10. In late 2010, Pauley started appearing in television commercials for Expedia.com. She also made a guest appearance as a judge on season 4, episode 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. As of winter 2018, her Q Score was 44, receiving the highest score of all current female television actors.

Pauley appeared as Jackie in the CBS sitcom Broke, which aired in 2020. In May 2020, after just one season, Broke was cancelled. On 7th July 2020, Pauley retired from acting.

Personal Life Of Pauley Perrette

The popular American actress, Pauley tied the knot with renowned actor and musician Coyote Chills on 20 October 2000. After spending a great three years in marriage, the couple encountered complications, diverting their marriage to ruins.

Pauley and Coyote finalized their separation on 1st February 2006, She filed the case against him, alleging that he subjected her to emotional, physical, and sexual abuse after their marriage. Pauley dated Michael Bosman, a well-known cameraman for 4 years before their engagement; however, the couple did not marry, saying they would wait until everyone can marry in the United States.

They even filed for all the legal protections for same-sex couples. Michael did not propose until the legalization of same-sex marriage in California in June 2008. Against Proposition 8, the couple campaigned very publicly. Pauley and Bosman separated, and in December 2011 she announced her engagement to former British Royal Marine Thomas Arklie. She again announced that they would not marry until Proposition 8 invalidates.

Pauley supports many charitable organizations, including animal rescue organizations, civil rights organizations, the American Red Cross, and LGBT rights organizations. In 2008, Pauley opposed the California ballot initiative Proposition 8, writing a public letter in the fall of that year urging votes against the measure. 

Pauley co-owned Donna Bell’s Bake Shop, named for her mother, in Manhattan, New York City. in December 2020, the shop closed after nearly 10 years of business.
