What Is a Minor Wound and 6 Steps to Treat It

Generally, a minor wound occurs when some part of the skin gets damaged due to any kind of injury. Injuries can include accidents, violence, fire burns, casual burns, bites or stings, skinned knee, sliced fingers – any kind of damage to the skin can be categorized as a wound.

Nowadays, a first aid box is available in most public places. If not available, borrow it from someone or buy it from the medical store.

4. Clean the wound.

Cleaning a wound immediately after an injury is very important because small particles of dirt or any other debris can stick to it. It becomes very hard and painful to clean it after drying. Apply antibiotic ointment in a small amount on the wound and clean it with the help of a cotton ball, and let the wound get dry for 4 to 5 minutes.

5. Cover the wound

Now, cover the wound with a loose bandage of cotton to avoid further exposure to dirt and small particles in the environment.

Note: Don’t use any cloth in your home to cover the wound. It can be dirty. It can contain pathogens. So, avoid using any random cloth.

6. Change the Bandage

Change the bandage two times a day for better improvement. Also, clean the wound minimum of one time a day.

Sometimes, wounds can be due to rusty iron objects that would require a shot of tetanus vaccine. So, if your wounds are of such types consult a doctor first and then take the treatment.

1. Coconut oil:

Apply a thin layer of oil on the wound for better results.

2. Turmeric:

You must have heard about the ayurvedic properties of turmeric. Turmeric plays a very important role in stopping blood flow and killing bacteria on the wound. You can make some turmeric paste at home. Take turmeric powder and warm water, mix them and make a paste.
Apply the same paste on the wound and cover it with a bandage.

3. Aloe vera:

Aloe vera is a very important ingredient for cell regeneration and skin integrity. It reduces inflammation and helps in the healing process. You can peel out fresh aloe vera gel and apply it to the wound, it feels soothing.

Risks involved in home remedies:

If the wound is normal, applying turmeric is helpful. But if the wound is deep, latter it becomes really difficult to remove that for treatment.

Applying coconut oil is helpful but immediately you should cover it with a bandage, otherwise, the oil will attract dirt and debris to the wound.
