How to wash dishes in a logical order

Scrubbing dishes is an art and doing it in a coherent order will make it much easier to work and will help save time and cleaning products, such as dishwashing detergent.

It is not just about placing all the dishes and utensils in the sink and accumulating them so that you do not even know where to start. To avoid this situation, we will give you a series of tips that will optimize the task of washing dishes.

1. Prepare the dishes

Soak the pieces that have the most embedded dirt and rinse the rest of the dishes to remove any food debris. It is not advisable to let all those pieces of food go through the drain of the sink, as they can clog the pipes. Stack dishes, bowls, glasses, etc. and gathers the cutlery and the large kitchen utensils as a preparation. Remember to change the water when it is cold or dirty.

2. Prepare the water

Make sure the water is at the correct temperature. The ideal temperature for washing dishes is one that does not allow us to immerse our hands with comfort for too long. Therefore, it will be necessary to use gloves that allow you to use the highest possible temperature. Thus the cleaning will be more efficient.

3. First, the lightest

Start scrubbing with cutlery, cups and glasses, which occupy less space and do not require moving all the pieces of the pile. In addition, they tend to have less dirt, so you can continue with the same scrubbing water to wash the dishes.

4. Dishes, bowls and trays

If you have rinsed and soaked the dirtiest parts previously, this step should not cost you great efforts.

5. Dishes, pans and pots

They are the pieces that require the most effort. Pay special attention to pots and pans, as it is not difficult to leave some fat in the bottom. You should use fairly hot water to rinse and rinse them. Only then will you get rid of all traces of fat. Remember that if you do not do it, you could get burned later when you re-use the kitchenware over the fire.

6. Clarify the tableware

If you have a sink with double sinks, you can accumulate the soapy pieces (by groups) to the other side, and then only have to clarify them. If you do not have this space, you can use a large container to clarify the pieces.

7. Let drain and dry

As you rinse the dishes, place them in the drainer and leave them for a few minutes in order to eliminate excess water. Afterwards, dry with a clean dry cloth. You probably need several to dry all the dishes without leaving a bad smell. You can also use kitchen paper to avoid having to use several rags. Remember that it is important that you dry the pieces well so as not to keep them wet because they could generate a bad smell, and humidity is the perfect friend of fungi and bacteria.

8. Save the dishes

At the end of the entire process of washing dishes, the part of keeping each of the items in place begins. It is important to maintain order when placing utensils, that is, to have everything organized by sections for each type of kitchen utensil. This will save time and maintain hygiene in the kitchen.

9. Clean what you have used

At the end of washing the dishes, it will be necessary to clean the sink by eliminating the remains of food, reviewing the surface with a specific cleaner and drying all the corners. Do the same with the squeegee and do not forget to put the cloths to dry and drain well the scourers that you have used to keep them in good condition.
