5 Ways to Lose Weight and Have Fun Doing it!

Everyone knows that if you want to lose weight then going to a gym and following a proper diet will assure you reach your goals. Still, we end up not doing this for a whole range of reasons – from laziness, work pressure to lack of motivation. Even people who are so determined that they join a gym, often don’t go as often as they thought they would due to tiredness, fatigue or distractions. So I thought I’d give these people a different take on some more fun things they can do to shed those extra kilos.

Routines are boring because, well they’re routines! The moment you begin to feel an obligation to do something, you usually don’t want to!  Same exercises, same music at the same time every day.  When exercise becomes an obligation, it turns into a punishment. If gym membership hasn’t worked for you, maybe it’s time to experiment with some fun alternatives. Here are my top 5 ways to lose weight and have fun doing it!

1.Kickboxing

Most health centres or gyms offer kickboxing classes.  It’s a really fun sport and a great way to blow off some steam after a long, hard day. And as an added bonus you’ll sharpen your self-defence skills.  If you really get into it, you’ll find yourself with a whole new social circle and could even start competing!

2.Trekking

It might sound like too much hard work to be fun, but it really isn’t. Get a group of friends together and set off for the hills every weekend for a few hours. Climb your way to the top, have a picnic, take in the breath taking views and play some games. It’s not just a chance to exercise but also to blow off the cobwebs by escaping the hustle and bustle. There are many adventure groups who organize regular camping or trekking trips. You’ll be addicted, before you know it.

3.Skydiving

Surprised that you can lose weight sky diving? I was too! You actually burn 144 calories per hour on a jump.  And when it comes to the fun factor, it doesn’t come better than this.  Free falling from up in the clouds down to the ground below is just about as exhilarating as you can get.  It can be an expensive hobby, but start off doing a charity skydive so you can have your jump funded (and raise some funds for something you’re passionate about!) to see if you like it and if you do, you can get huge discounts by joining a club.

4.Tennis Holidays

With its emphasis on quick, explosive movements, dynamic strength, endurance, and agility, tennis is perhaps the original cross-training workout.  It’s a social sport, so you can have fun on and off the court.  You can even go on tennis holidays!  Imagine, spending each and every day burning those calories and then relaxing your evenings away with friends on the terrace of your 5* hotel looking out at beautiful views of sea and sand?  Does it get more perfect than that?  And just think how amazing you’ll look when you get home!

5.Visit the Spa

Yes, that’s right.  You can now aid your weight loss journey by doing nothing more than visiting the ultimate place of relaxation.  Most spas these days offer body wraps and scrubs designed to release toxins and speed up your metabolism – both of which help with losing weight.  This is a great one for those of us who are just too tired for rigorous exercise.  In today’s stressful world, most of us are desperately overdue some ‘me time’.  But if you really do feel guilty most spas have gyms attached so you could do an hour before your deep relaxation all over body massage, scrub and wrap?
